1 : Before view of the combined tab. This view shows the original,
unmodified image.

2 : After view of the combined tab. This is the working view where you
apply your modifications.

3 : Before Tab: Shows only the original image
After tab: Shows only the modified image
Combined tab : shows both original and modified
image.
Tip: You can switch between tabs with your left and
right keyboard arrows
Tip: zoom and scrolling are synchronized between before and after tabs, and
between the combined views.
4 : Drag : This is the main tool. Hold click with left mouse button and
move your mouse on the image. It will "drag" the image and create appropriate
warping.
Grow: This tool will enlarge image where applied.
Press left button without moving the mouse.
Shrink: This tool will shrink the image where applied.
Press left button without moving the mouse.
Tip : Entire brush area is warped. You should
experiment with bigger or smaller brush and see what gives you the desired
modification.

5 : Reconstruct : This tool will progressively revert the selected image
portion to its original state.
Tip: this tool can be handy to revert only a part of an
image to its original state, so you can keep your modifications on the rest of
an image.

6 : Drawing tools : The drawing tools will let you write text, draw free
form, straight lines, filled or empty square or ellipse shapes on the modified
image.
Tip: Use the filled shapes to hide the eyes (anonymize)
of your subject if needed.
Tip: Use the drawing and text functions after all your modifications are done,
do avoid warping conflicts.
Tip: Drawings are dependant on brush size setting. Set brush size to small value
to get proper result.

7 : Eraser : The eraser will brutally revert the selected image portion
to its original state, including drawings and texts.

8 : Open : This option is to select the image that you want to work with
in the VPSS.

9 : Open Folder: This option is to import previously worked Before and
After images in the VPSS. You must select a folder previously created with the
VPSS save image option (see below).

10 : Save image: This icon is our smart saving feature. It will save your
work as a folder containing: the original image, the modified image, and a
combination of both. Here is the save box:

The save path is where you define where to create the folder (typically on
your desktop).
The folder name is where you define the name of the folder (which can then be
reopened with "Open folder" option; see #9 above ).
Before & After Size: this is where you define the size of the saved original and
modified images. Default size is original image size.
Combined image size : this is where you define the size of the combined image
that contains both image horizontally merged for easy comparison. Default size
is combined image with, plus a few separation pixels.
Here is what contains the saved folder:

Tip : Image size setting can be useful if you need a
special size for web inclusion.
11 : Printing : This will print on a single paper sheet
both the before and after images, vertically positioned.
Tip: you can preview the print result by going in the menu
File / Print Preview.

12 : Undo: this quick access to the undo function
will cancel last action.

13 : Reset : this quick access to the reset function
will revert the modified image to its original state.

14 : Color : this is where you select the color that
will be used by all the drawing functions.

15 : Pre selected brush sizes : this is a quick access
to pre defined brush sizes, from very small to very large. These brush sizes are
determined as a percentage of total image size, so they will always be coherent.

16 : Custom brush size: this is a quick access to custom
brush size in pixel (brush diameter = pixel setting).

17 : Zoom feature : will let you zoom, and unzoom your
image. Zoom is synchronized between Before and after tabs, and between the two
views of the combined tab.

18 : Scrolling hand : will let you grab your image to
scroll it. Scroll is synchronized between Before and After tabs, and between the
two views of the combined tab.

19 : Webcam : this will call the webcam capture screen.

20 : The setting menu will let you set the watermarks.
Watermarks are text that will appear over your saved combined image. There are 3
watermark zones : Top left corner (default is text “Before”), Top right corner
(default is text "After"), and middle bottom (default is empty). You can put any
short text you want in the watermarks setting fields.

21 : Performance: Performance of the VPSS depends on
image size. Smaller image will allow better performance, but larger image will
put more strain on your computer. The setting allows you to set max image size
so you always get a good performance while using the VPSS.
